A specialty fluoropolymer manufacturing facility in Orange, Texas asked Bell Engineering® to assess the structural corrosion condition of its process units, tank farm structures, and pipe racks. A previous assessment had been performed some time earlier, and the facility needed a current read plus a comparison against that baseline.
Bell’s field team conducted a visual structural assessment across the process areas, tank farm, and pipe racks. We photographed each area of interest with context, measured visible section loss, and catalogued components by location, type, and observed condition. The assessment was run in an active production environment, so access and hot-work planning were coordinated daily with the facility team.
The core of the analytical work was the direct comparison against the previous assessment. For each component evaluated previously, we tracked whether condition had stabilized, progressed, or worsened materially. Components not previously assessed were added to the baseline. Every finding was classified by corrosion severity and by the repair action it called for.
The final deliverable was a PE-sealed structural integrity report the facility’s reliability organization used to plan the next round of structural repair scope. Severity classifications tied directly into the operator’s repair planning categories so the findings flowed straight into the capital planning cycle.
